Madden was discussing on his radio show possibly trading Maatta or Rust. Before everyone goes crazy, he was just thinking about who might be traded....not reporting or citing sources or anything...
That said.... Would trading either of those players make sense and what would we look for in return?
I could see moving Maatta actually .... But we would only be trading him for another defenseman because our D depth already isn't great. But Maatta has value, maybe we could get a D of a different style or one who's contract is expiring or something.

I'm fine with trading either but would really have to be the right situation. Like if the Pens somehow find a way to trade for Hanafin or OEL, it would make Maata expendable.
With Rust, I would much rather keep him and trade Sheary.
Do you guys know any good Penguins pods? I found that listening to pods while swimming is a good way of keeping me engaged and not quitting prematurely on the cardio section of my workout, but right now all I'm listening to is The Rights to Ricky Sanchez and want to diversify my podcast library. I was also thinking of getting back on Pardon My Take even though I hate Big Cat/Barstool and was thinking of giving Spitting Chiclets a trie.

Pretty slim pickings. Not really a fan of RW's Hockey Hurts podcast...the Garage League Podcast is like a book club for stat geeks.... the lastest episode of "The only pittsburgh sports podcast" was pretty good but havent heard any other episodes....i actually dont mind Tim Benz but trib radio isnt great...DK Sports Radio sometimes has good hockey talk but not as much since Yohe's departure.
For a good Pens fix I usually just wait for someone like Yohe or Mackey or national hockey writer to join a local radio show. Most of those shows have a podcast form to listen to but those are usually only 10-15 minute hits.
Orpik basically invented the "fall on your guy and hold him down for 18 seconds while miraculously not getting called for interference" move. - YouMeAndDupuis9

Dude Spittin Chiclets is (frank)ing great. I listen to it every week, and now they have Biz on there full time. The guests they get on there are usually awesome. There's been a few stale ones, but they had Flower on before the cup finals and that was an awesome interview. the Teddy Purcell interview was hysterical. I don't even really care that they're under the Barstool brand, it's hockey talk from hockey players, some funny poop.

Be happy for Orpik and Niskanen. Period. Don't be salty.
No to the trade Määttä thing. Bad business unless we are getting Ekman-Larsson back or have an agreement to sign E.Karlsson. Määttä was one of our best players this year.
Yohe also stated that Kessel is "the first guy off at practice most days and presumably spends more time at Rivers Casino than he does breaking down game film," so it's not surprising that some of his tendencies may drive a coach up a wall, even if he's popular among his teammates.

Just a piece of Yohe's article I'd like to share. That said, I'm perfectly fine with Phil not getting traded and we add 2-3 new faces to the team with at least one new #4-#5 D-man.

I understand what you're saying, but I just don't have a lot of love left for Orpik. That hit on Maatta would have made Tom Wilson blush. Eff him.
Nisky whined like a b*tch when Shero and Bylsma were fired AND he hit Sid in the head last playoffs. Eff him too. I can't be happy with those dirty d*cks winning anything.

Eff both those guys with telephone poles.
Sorry..... - madmike71
Lol Fine then
My former name was Orpik44...I was just trying to defend him. He was a good soldier for us even in the bad days. Niskanen was someone I wanted to keep but he got too pricey. He makes the same kind o for money Schultz makes now. They are equally good I'd say. Who do you prefer?
Everyone was screaming to NOT TRADE Maatta because they believe he'll return to form.
Now, after Maatta having a pretty damn good year everyone is ok withe trading him? - Rinosaur
Unbelievable. He played his price tag this year. No reason to think he'll regress from now on. He's a lot more determined to get better at the things he wasn't lacking (speed, skating).
Määttä stays and everyone will be happy.
Btw is Julius Honka any good? he could be a new Oleksiak for us.
